Abstract

In the context of rapid urbanization, the development of a market economy, and deep international integration, the building of human beings and the promotion of human value systems play a pivotal role in the sustainable development of major cities. Ho Chi Minh City, as Vietnam’s leading center of economy, culture, and science, has identified the goal of building a “civilized, modern, and compassionate city” as a long-term development orientation. This article analyzes the human value system of Ho Chi Minh City, clarifies the current situation of promoting these values in contemporary urban life, and discusses their role while proposing several solutions to further promote the human value system in the process of building a civilized, modern, and compassionate Ho Chi Minh City. The research findings indicate that the human value system is not only the spiritual foundation of social life but also an important endogenous resource that determines the quality and depth of urban development.
